Salvador and his colleagues developed the family fundamental theory in the 1960s. The argument evaluates the relationship of individuals in their social contexts. It was established to help in the conducting therapy to families and young people. The theory points out that hardships in the family can be understood by looking at the context of the relationships that cause and maintain it and also, looking viewing the members of the family to be the reasons for the suffering. The focus of the theory is in how the members of the family interact, what they say to each other and how they say it, which is the key determinant of the problems that face the family (Edelman, Kudzman, and Mandle 2014).
The theory focuses on the on clinical experiences of families that may have caused distress which may be a result of dysfunction. Many families, according to the theory have authoritative parents where the mother or father has practice ultimate authority and rule of the other members of the family. In some instances, the father of the household may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs that may lead him to cause pressure to other family members. The family may end up breaking and the relationship breaks (Edelman, Kudzman, and Mandle 2014).
Structural therapists evaluate the structure of the family to determine whether it is functional or not and whether its structure is likely to change. The theory helps in assessing how the family members relate and whether they are comfortable in their situation as well as assessing whether they are in need of change in their interaction. In determining the stability of the family functioning, the theory is concerned about the family life with the vital interest in the sources of social support and the sources of the stress of the family members, to drive therapeutic change that would be necessary for the family (Edelman, Kudzman, and Mandle 2014).

The family systems theory suggests that individuals cannot be understood when they are in isolation from one another. However, as a family, they can be described as an emotional unit. The families can be described as systems of interconnected as well as interdependent individuals and none of which can be understood in isolation from the system. A family can be described as a system where each and every member has a role to play as well as rules to respect. Most members of a system are often expected to respond to each in several ways which is dependent on their role and it is determined by the relationship agreement that exists between them. The family systems theory argues that within the boundaries of this system, there is development of patterns amongst family members that eventually cause other family members to behave in predictable ways. The maintenance of the same pattern of behaviors with a certain family is what causes a balance within a family. In the case of Sara, she behaves in the way she does because of Jason. Her actions and behaviors are not isolated and it is because of Jason that her behaviors are modeled the way they are.
There are no two individuals that have exactly the same desires and expectations, conflict can be described as a natural part of interactions. According to Killman and Thomas, the TKI has been the leader in the conflict resolution assessment for a long time. This instrument is important as it often requires no special qualifications for the administration. This information is important as it helps one to understand the level of conflict that exists between two persons as well as the intensity of the conflict. This is an important process as it ensures that a person is able to reliably understand family patterns.
The two persons Jason and Sara needs to sit down and talk out their issues, this will be an important part in ensuring that they get back together and that they are able to resolve their issues. The concept of family systems theory states that one's behavior cannot exist in isolation to another person. Communication between them will be paramount in ensuring that the two are able to get together.
