Divorce is good to the family in the event that the existence of the family unit increases the stress on the children. Therefore, divorce ought to be seen through if the continued existence of the family unit leads to the detrimental effects on the children (Marcovitz, 2004). Negative effects of divorce come out in the event that the event leads to the stress on the children. Therefore, on both counts divorce affects the children the most.
The society often views the single parent as lacking. There are instances of depicting the normal nuclear family as the ideal. The individual perspectives lead to instance of overcompensation (Miller, 2008). The single parents try so hard to succeed in the upbringing of their children such that they overstep the common tenets in the raising of children. Instances of overcompensation lead to the ineffectiveness (Marcovitz, 2004). Ironically, the fear may lead to the assumption of a course of action that leads to the culmination of the things that one fears.
Blended families have issue that manifest in form of the cohesion and the interactions with the community (Snyder, 2007). In most of the cases, they are the fence sitters when it comes to the classifications. Blended families have to work harder to find a niche on either sides of the divide than the other families. Challenges also manifest in from of the interactions of the children in the schools and other social settings (Marcovitz, 2004).
There may be challenges from the interactions between the in-laws that may perceive them to be less of their members. In some cases, the children from the blended families lack the identity to the extent that they have to work hard to interact. Cultural orientations in the blended families are also not clear. This leads to instances when the families have to establish their codes and traditions.

Abstract
The issue of couples cohabiting is one that continues to drive a wedge between Christian moralists and those who believe that this is the logical step to marriage. Admittedly, the dynamics of today's society are so much different from those of the yesteryears, and with each new generation, these dynamics continue to be more complex and diverse. Cross-cultural studies have enumerated some of the advantages and disadvantages of the practice, but the biblical view of the same has remained constant ever since.
Keywords: cohabiting.
Cohabiting
When two people of the opposite sex live together without any legal foundation and engage in all the intricacies of marriage than they are said to be cohabiting (Anderson, 2003). The worldview on cohabitation is a mixture of people who think the practice has its inherent advantages and disadvantages. One of the most popular ideologies it mentally and physically prepares a couple for marriage in that they cohabiting period is used as a "testing period." Proponents of the practice argue that it allows the couples to test compatibility, among other issues (Nock, 1995). Opponents, on the other hand, claim that it reduces the commitment to get married because the couples are already enjoying the fruits of marriage without being married. That cohabitation is not only practiced by non-Christians but by practicing Christians as well speaks volumes on just how much the practice has pervaded the society (Balswick & Balswick, 2000).
Balswick and Balswick (2000) argue that the institution of marriage is governed by biblical principles. As Christians, their first approach on the issue is founded on Bible teachings and doctrines which highlight the sanctity of marriage. The bible talks about sexual immorality in 25 passages which makes it very clear that sex outside marriage is a sin. For example, in Eph. 5:31, the Bible teaches that the act of sex makes a man and a woman be one flesh, but at the same time the two cannot be one flesh if they don't live together. However, sexual relations outside of marriage is also a sin (1 Cor. 6:16), and that's why the Bible emphasizes that "it's for this reason that a man shall leave his parents as will the woman and the two shall become one flesh." The interpretation of "leaving the parents" is symbolical to getting permission from parents to go and get married. When couples start living together without invoking particular societal (obtaining permission from parents) and biblical principles, then their union is not regarded as a formal union (Balswick & Balswick, 2000).
