Ethics is a very broad term. It has been defined differently by many authors but with a common factor. It deals with morals and principles that affect behavior and decision-making. Business ethics can be defined to comprise of the standards and principles that guide behavior the world of business (Ferrell and John 6). In our society today the term ethics has been misused by many people. The essay tends to look at the framework of ethical decision-making and how it is applied in various businesses in order to reduce or solve conflicts.
The successes of a business greatly rely on how managers can resolve the conflicts that arise every day in business. The first step should be to identify the ethical issues, including social work values and duties that conflict (Fluehr 140).
Many a times in decision-making, there might always be conflicts arising from several people like the workers. In the above text where my co-owner would like to employ a manager due to shared religious beliefs. The decision in this lies within the framework of management. In every position, there must qualities or qualifications before one gets a job. The first applicant has been a manager and, therefore, has the experience. She also did marketing that will be necessary for the business growth. She also had leadership values having been a manager for quite some time. According to ( Laszlo 26) using the frame does not mean that the decision arrived at will be the most ethical but at least the best option in the scenario.
Secondly, to identify the individuals, groups and organizations likely to be affected by the moral decision (Ferrel and John 6). People who need to give their opinion in business set up always include the co- owners and other staffs who will not be pleased by the decision. In making decisions in business, it is very hard to please all the workers. However, the primary task is to do that which is ethical according to the business. Employing one who attains all the qualification of the job becomes the best option because the laws governing the organization would have been followed. Considering one's interest instead of the right of the business is not ethics.
However, people's response to conflicts differs from one person to another. It is important to consider communication skills like the words to use to your opponent (Kenneth &joan 6). Reactions to conflicts are very critical to solving problems or disagreements arising between two people. It's, therefore, necessary to engage the other parties involved in a dialog to explain how one arrived at a particular decision. It helps to reduce the tensions that might be existing since the other party might feel offended. It is always done by examining the reasons for and against a particular decision. It is important in ethics to understand other people's opinion concerning the matter. According to (Richard 41) it is not possible to find reasons that can be accepted by everybody. It is a fact that people must differ in opinions. It supports that, however, much fair one can be in making the decision, still other people will not accept it.
Another crucial step in ethical decision-making is consultation (Fluehr 140).There should be consultation with concerned parties before making the decisions. It even includes experts in that particular field. In this case, the other staff should be asked to so that they can have their say that may make the co-owner to see some sense of this decision. Many times there is confusion in the family business that are predictable but not inevitable (Rhodes &David 9). People are always involved in the dilemma whether to please their parents or act according to the ethics of the business.
In conclusion, it is crucial for one to understand the framework in decision-making. The primary task for every business person to put this into practice. It helps in solving the various conflicts that arise in business enterprises. It is, therefore, important to note that not all decisions made are ethical. So it should try to please everyone but instead follow the laws and principles of the business. Ethics is not hard to apply if we only follow the steps keenly. The questionnaires are aimed at measuring and creating an assessment for the workers being considered for a position in the family counseling practice. The questionnaires are aimed at making the hiring process much easier and ensuring that the best individual is selected. The questionnaires are aimed at finding out the individual’s means of handling ethical issues. The questions will also investigate the applicant’s plan for maintaining their current area of the profession and their attitude towards receiving continuing education. The care worker will also be questioned about ways that he or will ensure accurate and complete client records. The applicant will also be forced to take a stand when it comes to the duty to warn or the duty to protect. In the section below, the questionnaires will be provided with an answer as if I was applying for a position in the family counseling practice.
Questionnaires
1. How will you effectively conduct a relationship with the clients based on respect and trust?
In my capacity as a member of the family counseling practice, I will try to create a good relationship with the patients. I will listen to them keenly assessing their troubles before giving them an answer, ensuring that they consider me more of a friend (Bond, 2010, 56).
2. How will you be committed to ensuring the well-being of patients?
The well-being of patients will be among my top priorities and, therefore, I will review the issues of the patients keenly before I can provide them with treatment.
3. Since it against the ethics of counseling to hurt a patient, how will you ensure this is avoided?
I clearly understand non-maleficence and it avoids soliciting financial, sexual, emotional or any form of client exploitation. Therefore, I intend to keep a professional relationship with the patients and focus on treating their problems.
4. How will you ensure equal and impartial treatment to all patients?
The principle of justice requires every counselor to be fair and impartial to all patients, in order to respect human rights (Ethics In Counselling & Psychotherapy, 88). Therefore, equal undivided attention will be offered to every patient to ensure that they all receive fair and impartial treatment.
5. Are you contented with your current area of expertise?
At the moment, I am contented with my area of expertise, and I feel like am doing a good job in my position.
6. Do you have any plans for receiving further education?
I would not mind receiving further education in my area of expertise as it would increase my knowledge in the field. Therefore, this would help me increase my expertise and a result of an increase in my salary.
7. How will ensure that the records of the clients are kept accurate and complete client records?
The client files will be stored and kept separately to avoid the loss, misplacement or destruction of the records (Burnard, 2005, 68). The labeling on the client files will be generated in a specific manner to avoid any confusion.
8. In case of the loss or mix-up of the client files, how will you solve such a problem?
A backup of the patient’s records will also be saved on a computer to provide a soft copy in case the other files are inaccessible.
9. Do you prefer the duty to warn or the duty to protect?
In my case, I prefer the duty to warn.
10. Why is this so?
It is more time and cost-saving for the client and for me to prefer the duty to warn to the duty to protect.

Deontology is a view of ethics that looks at the rightness or wrongness of actions and not the consequences. It is not only an issue of choosing the correct actions, but also having the right motivations or intentions. A person may be morally right even when the consequences of his actions are wrong for the simple fact that their intentions or motivations were right according to deontological ethics.
In an article posted at Molloy College's website, the writer puts across a case involving two young adults; Joe and Susan. The two met in a party and as they interacted a bond developed between them. They shared a number of interests such as travelling and were particularly attracted to the Asian culture (Molloy College, 1). After their first meeting, Susan invites Joe to her house to show him her collection of Chinese pottery. Although he did not like the pottery, he did pretend to like them. Shortly after, Joe made sexual advances to Susan did not hesitate since she likes him. He also took her number but had no intentions to call her.
Although it was morally right for the two to engage in sex owing to the fact that they are adults, there were ethical issues associated with their actions. Joe had ill intentions, but he did pretend so as to lure Susan. He pretends to like the pottery while he hates it (Molloy College, 1). He also makes Susan believe that he would call her something he clearly knows he will never do. The case study clearly gives the view of ethics under Deontology. The actions of the two were right, but Joe’s intentions were wrong. Joe’s decisions are unethical according to this case.
