Instances of violence and aggression towards the minority such as the Jewish and Semites who live in the city has been rampant and problematic (Putnam 33).
In events such as the Holocaust Remembrance Day reports indicate that in places such as Eugene, in Oregon, there are still agitators who show up in Nazi regalia decorated with the swastika to taunt the Jewish people who reside in the city. Apart from anti-Nazi and anti-Semitism, which threatens the peaceful environment of many cities in the United States, there is also the problem of anti-black, anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim incidents that has spread across the country. People considered to be white supremacists are now using the fact that Donald Trump is now president to threaten the lives of the minorities and immigrants that they will be deported and "Taken Back to Africa." These turn of events began to unfold during the presidential campaigns when whites became increasingly entitled and rude. Anti-Hispanic incidents have also been widely reported. With reported chants of “Build a wall” being made against Hispanics of Mexican origin in relation to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign promise to build a wall across the Mexican border to keep Mexican illegal immigrants out of the United States.
One of the most recent problems has been the conflict between the NFL and President Trump. While the media presents the president as divisive, white supremacists portray blacks as divisive and unpatriotic. This was occasioned by the incidents of the NFL athletes kneeling against the American flag. However, it is important to find out the situations that led to the current problems. While every person will argue in support of their preferred side, it is true that there have been deep-seated issues of discrimination, racism, inequality, aggression, violence, unfair treatment and favoritism in the American society. When black citizens are carelessly shot and arrested by the police, the justice system barely delivers justice to them. Statistics indicate that the correctional system in the United States holds a black majority followed by the Hispanics (Putnam 76). Blacks and the Hispanics are the least employed and the least educated living in poor neighborhoods and government housing projects.
Considering all the problems the American people face against one another, it is impossible to acknowledge the American dream in any sense. The country is deeply divided within itself to the extent that the achievement of the American dream for all seems like a far-fetched dream. However, given the right leadership, the American dream is a possibility that can be achieved in the long term.
