Various factors explain why Texas has always lured job seekers. The city has reasonable real estate prices, appealing tax structure, as well as relatively affordable lifestyle. In terms of population, Texas only comes second to California. The city does everything big. It boasts of the biggest oil reserves, huge transportation infrastructure, its power grid and a massive beef industry.
These factors greatly contribute to a strong export business that Texas has always had. The job conditions there have in recent times been on a robust upswing (Fischer, 2013). Employment in Texas is dominated by trade, business and transportation services. All the sectors have currently demonstrated the ability to grow strongly, and this is something that most job seekers have been keen top exploit.
According to statistics by BLS and BEA, Abilene area has a population of 166, 963, and a labor force of 84, 227. It also has a personal income of 6, 330, 829, and an employment of 79,712. What these statistics indicate is that compared to most other locations around Texas, Abilene enjoys a more impressive job ratio. More than 50 percent of its population is in gainful employment, and this explains why fresh graduates have been thronging the location.
The fact that Abilene embraces the idea of diversity in the workplace is another reason that sets it apart. Job seekers from different races, political affiliations and religious beliefs are all welcome in this location which ensures merit-based appointments. This gives job seekers the confidence that they will not be judged on anything else rather than their qualifications.
Texas jobs have a volume that is consistently expanding and positive. Even in the wake of the biting recession, Abilene experienced an unemployment rate that was relatively low. Statistics indicates that by 2012, unemployment rates in Abilene had only peaked at 7.9 percent, and by July 2013, that unemployment rate had gone down to 6 percent. Statistics also indicate that Abilene has a growing presence in fields that are business related.
Solid monthly increases have always been reported on both online hiring and payrolls, and this further underlines why Abilene is god job hunting ground, especially for individuals with a background in Accounting (Fischer, 2013). Between Q2 2013 and Q2 2014, jobs in Abilene are expected to grow exponentially by around 2.6 percent. This will represent a bigger increase from the national job supply of 1.3 percent. Abilene does not rely heavily on national job supply, and this is yet another factor that has set it apart from most other locations.
One thing that most job seekers try to avoid is unjust tax system. During the start up phase of any gainful employment, the returns are often meagre, and job seekers would therefore try everything to maintain a sensible net pay. This is something that they get from most employment opportunities in this location. The tax structure there is incredibly low compared to areas like California, and most job seekers see this as very appealing.
Simply put, Abilene has a healthy economy, and lucrative jobs are plentiful. The moves that individuals make are most often necessitated by employment opportunities. This is something that Abilene consistently offers. Abilene is home to a variety of industries. The top players include business services, education and the government. High-tech companies are not in short supply and this further underlines the high levels of employment opportunities.
It is a bustling metro region, and these points to fairly decent job prospects. Most young graduates have to fight soaring unemployment levels in order to carve a niche in their professions (Fischer, 2013). The little information out there is normally conflicting, and a lot of caution has to be exercised in deciding the best location to start the job-hunting process. Given that Abilene is not very big geographically, it becomes a little easier to collect helpful information on the most suitable jobs and this is something that most job-seekers obviously look for. It is easier to do a thorough background research, as well as the necessary networking in a smaller region compared to a bigger one.
In recent years, job seeking has greatly transformed. It is the employers’ who dictate the market, and if such employers do not provide a playing ground that is level, then job seekers are bound to feel frustrated. The emerging global workforce is less rigid than was the case decades ago, and this explains their willingness to move to other locations such as Abilene to seek employment. Job seekers cannot overlook the fact that the work environment has in recent times become more mobile, and individuals are more open to the idea of looking for opportunities outside their home cities. This is a fact that has greatly impacted how Abilene performs against other cities. With diversification in the workplace comes a broader range of skills.
Abilene has always endeavored to create entrepreneurial enterprises that are high-impact and high-growth, and this goal has seen it grow steadily. The business policies that have been implemented are entrepreneur-friendly, and there are also numerous venture capital efforts. The area is also not short of amenities that make working there comfortable, and the fact that it has a diverse array of offerings makes it a must-visit. Job seekers are consistently looking to improve their position, and the best way to keep them is to ensure that the pool of potential employees is talented, and one which offers room for growth. The modern day job seekers expect certain requirements to be met before committing themselves to specific opportunities, and one such requirement is continuity of employment opportunities.
In terms of raw growth, Texas beats all other cities with a 4 percent annual growth rate. Abilene has always been impressive in the way it handles poorly projected income growth and job market hiccups, and this also explains its popularity among job seekers, especially the Accounting majors. It is sucking in jobs that are high-tech from California that many view as being too expensive. The economy today is incredibly diversified, and this is something that most cities have struggled with, especially in harsh economic times.
Most cities have been getting better with improvements in the national economy. However, most cities simply do not know how to handle slumps in the national economy, and this where Abilene has emerged victorious (Fischer, 2013). It has been impressive in the way it handles financial crisis, and this is a move that has always ensured that jobs are preserved. Abilene does not normally allow itself to be affected by poor financial decisions, as most companies in the region ensure that they employ sound measures to address any shortcomings in the financial sector.

Introduction
Choosing a career is among the most important decisions made by students in their lives. The decision is crucial since it influences the method the students will use to support themselves throughout their lives. Often, poor career choice leads to confusion since, after graduation, students have to report to work every morning. Conversely, if individuals fail to appreciate their job, they are often unhappy with their tasks and thus fail to appreciate their career. On the other hand, if the workers like the job, they are bound to getting satisfaction from their tasks and thus great happiness during their career life (Kutivadze 58). However, finding the perfect career is a challenging task. In most scenarios, many people choose their careers with the best intentions. Nevertheless, over time, they realize their choices are not fulfilling. Aspects such as salary, career opportunities, retirement procedures and effects of a career on the family often influence individual’s fulfillment of a career choice (Aizenman 92). The discussion objects at providing an in-depth evaluation of public adjuster career.
Overview of public adjuster career and their roles
These are experts involved in property loss evaluation. Mostly, insurance firms’ policyholders retain these individuals to aid them in filing and evaluating their insurance claims (Kutivadze 33). Their immediate employers are policyholders sustaining losses insured in an insurance firm. While with their policyholders, public adjusters manage the details of the insurance claim and providing the best settlement possible from the insurance firm.
Public adjusters have an obligation of taking the insurance claims they agree to work on and immediately begin the process of compiling relevant evidence for the claim. They analyze the loss from the evidence inspected and assembles data supporting the claim and lastly determining the replacements costs for the loss.
Public adjusters have great influences on claim settlement value. While preparing documents to support the claim, they negotiate on behalf of their clients on the value of the claim settlement. Similarly, they may re-open a claim aiming at negotiating for more settlement money in case of a discrepancy found on a settled claim. Finally, interruptions are part of business losses (Aizenman 16). Example, in cases of fire occurrences, business operations are interrupted leading to massive losses. It is the sole role of the public adjuster to evaluate the losses based on these interruptions.
Educational Requirements
Normally, there is no define formal educational requirement for a public adjuster. Conversely, many college experiences and degree aid while preparing students to their career as public adjusters. Insurance training, mathematics and fraud investigations are among the valuable for students interested in the career field. Public adjuster should have excellent personal communication skills since they not only need to be assertive but also persistent while working with their policyholders (Adam 72). With the increasing career competition in the current job environment, public adjusters are taking extra steps of getting licenses from insurance agencies and their states.
Expected job salary
Salary is an important aspect of any occupation in life. According to reports made by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, they are expecting a growth of three percent between 2013 and 2022 (Adam 56). As an indication, the job market is not dynamic as compared to other occupations in the state. Additionally, the decreased rise in the number of adjusters attributes to the dangers experienced while evaluating some losses (Vaughan-Whitehead 72). Evaluations by BLS indicated that monthly, public adjuster have an average of 61, 190 U.S. dollars. In most states, public adjuster receives their salaries as percent commissions of the total settlement. Example, reported by BSL, some companies state their commissions between 5% and 10% based on the value of the claim. In contrast, some public adjusters decide on their fixed percentage based on their skills whereas some use a regressive scale of determining their rates on clients (Adam 45). An example is a case reported by BSL where a public adjuster used a regressive scale of 25% for the first $100,000, 15% for the next 100,000 and 10% for any value above 200,000 (Vaughan-Whitehead 96). However, regardless of the commission evaluation scheme used, the value of the salary depends on the value of the claim.
In many states, the structure of determining public adjuster’s salary need to be disclosed prior to undertaking the task. Most public adjusters ask for higher fees for re-opened claims for the additional tasks involved. Similarly, due to the low fees linked with small value claims, some adjusters fail to handle them (Vaughan-Whitehead 82). However, as a fee regulation measure, public adjusters should not obtain more than the policyholder’s claim entitlement.
Advantages of a public adjuster career
While working as a public adjuster, an individual enjoys high salary margin of about $61, 000 on average (Carretta 55). Similarly, the career does not have the fixed educational requirements. Often, as seen earlier, the requirements are flexible since a student can enter a career with just a bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma. Unlike other occupations, public adjusters are their own bosses. As an implication, the career is less demanding as it is a form of self-employment.
On the other hand, from their job descriptions, public adjuster have opportunities of helping people suffering from losses (Gerard 32). Apparently, from the insurance companies, public adjusters get fair compensations for their claim evaluations. Lastly, the career has numerous opportunities especially in health insurance and in areas commonly faced by natural disasters.
Disadvantages of public adjuster career
In some states as stated earlier, licensing is mandatory. Thus, public adjusters face a challenge while meeting the minimum requirements by their licensing agencies (Carretta 66). As depicted by reports made by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is stunted growth caused by decline in the number of direct insurance policyholders and federal government agencies.
Often, inspection of policyholder losses involves damaged and weakened buildings and property. As a result, it poses a health risk to the adjusters while carrying out their tasks. Lastly, despite public adjuster career falling under self-employment, in some instances adjusters work under policyholder’s schedules. Thus, they work on irregular work schedules while working with their clients and thus prone to time inconvenience.
Insurance claims involving public adjusters
At this instance, essential evaluating the nature of claims those public adjusters can help. These claims involve physical damage of property (Gerard 12). Risks contributing to the losses include; explosion, flood, fire, theft, smoke damage and hurricane damages. Similarly, additional business losses resulting from these risks include; income loss, electrical or mechanical damage of equipment, disorientation of business operations and lastly increased expenses due to these risks.
Conclusion
In conclusion, career choice is an important decision in life. Public adjusters, being a career of interests has a wide scope. Consequently, it requires a comprehensive evaluation before choosing it. Among students, they often face a challenge while deciding on their future careers. Nevertheless, career choice require determination of personal skills related to the job description.

In life, a time comes when one has to sacrifice what they love or like in order to accomplish other things. In most common scenarios, one has to make sacrifices in order to further their career and education (Lewis, 27). My case has not been any different from the lives of other individuals concerning making sacrifices. I have also found myself in compromising situations where I have to give up some things to further my education and career. One of the major sacrifices I have made to further my education and career is my children. In the hope of achieving better life for me and my children, I have been left without an option. Currently, I spend less time with my children due to my tight schedule. It becomes even hard since I have to juggle between work and school to achieve my goals.
In a week, I have to work for more than forty hours in order to achieve my career and education goals. Therefore, I rarely have enough time to engage in recreational facilities. I have also had to sacrifice spending time with my friends and even family. The only leisure time that I have is on weekends, but this does not mean am free entirely. Even during weekends, I have a load of assignments or work tasks to complete, which makes me busy after all. However, all the sacrifices I have taken are for a greater course, and I do not regret any of them. For one to sacrifice successfully what they love for a better life, one needs to be strong at heart and be patient.
Patience comes a long way in helping an individual have a good spirit and work extra hard until they accomplish all their goals. Patience also helps an individual continue working without giving up until they achieve a better life. The motivation that drives me to work extra hard and not feel left out when I sacrifice some of the things I love most is the achievement of a better life. I am aware that, I will enjoy the reward for my labor as well as the freedom that I long for at the end. In conclusion, at some point in life, we have to sacrifice some factors in order for a better life.
